All I do is for the dogs and this work takes all I can do and every penny I earn. I can always use:
old blankets
towels
pine cleaner
bleach
3.0 mil contractor trash bags
collars, leashes
old pillows (they love to destroy pillows in tug of war and scatter the stuffing),
toys, Booda chew toys,
dog biscuits
gift cards to almost any store, PetSmart, WalMart, Petco, inexpensive stores where the dollar goes further is good - mail them to The Dog Next Door, c/o Orr Animal Hospital 770-887-7112 or 1902 Old Atlanta Road, Cumming GA 30044
crates, lots of crates all sizes, but especially 48 inch crates,
beds (see the Kuranda link) or Coolaro beds any large fluffy pillow beds (they destroy them and for years I have continued to replace them but I am trying to get at least 18 Kuranda beds in different sizes but most of my rescues are too large).
and of course money - I have always have a need for money because I choose to bring in large dogs that do not get rescued from shelters as quickly as small dogs and I choose to bring in mixed breed dogs who are often overlooked. I also choose to bring in dogs that may need some vetting but who will otherwise make outstanding companion animals but because they need additional care are moved to the top of the euthanasia list.
Donations can be made directly to Dr. Orr at Orr Animal Hospital 770-887-7112 or 1902 Old Atlanta Road, Cumming GA 30044
I am trying to phase out using beds that the dogs can chew up in hours, or days, and get all Kuranda beds. They are durable, almost indestructable, easy to clean and sanitize, and are safe and comfortable for the dogs -- some of who are healing from bones broken by evil humans. If you would like to donate a bed to us for a GREATLY reduced price, we would be forever appreciative and will add you to the list of our "sponsors and friends" (coming this week). Just click one of the links below.
There are many other needs that I have for the house - which now belongs to the dogs, and I just live here with them
Doors, Flooring, Cabinets - If you are a contractor or know a contractor who wants to help a rescue, I would be eternally grateful for used solid core interior doors. I can do the work myself. Used or extra laminate flooring and kitchen cabinets from a contractor job again, I would do the work myself; used privacy fencing that you are tearing down (I will be more than happy to come do the work to remove any of these items from a house you are remodeling.
Heating and air. My central heat and air both died in 2001 and I now use propane heat (a 30000 BTU heater in winter) and three large window air conditioners in summer -- If you are or know a contractor who would donate a new system or greatly discount one -- send them my way.
Items for yard sales or to sell on ebay or craigslist - if you don't want it, we do. consider it recycling for rescue. Someone will pay for it and that will feed a dog, medicate dog or purchase comfort for a dog.
